LaseAFM - Automatic Freight Measurement

The system LaseAFM-4 (Automatic Freight Measurement) for the automatic and multi-dimensional freight measurement delivers highly accurate measurement data for freight forwarders and ensures higher transperency as well assaving of time in transshipment stations. By the automatic detection of the volume, dimension, weight, freight-ID and image data, manual measurements and transcription errors are excluded within the freight documentation process.

The measurement sequence - easy and accurate:

  1. Freight is placed in measuring station
  2. Freight-ID is scanned by hand-held scanner
  3. Automatic initiation of the measurement process
  4. Freight volume measurement by 3D laser scanners
  5. Freight weight measurement by weighing system
  6. Imaga data acquisition by HD camera
  7. Data transfer to WMS-/ERP-System

With the use of state-of-the-art 3D-Laser scanners (mounted at the four portal corners) LaseAFM-4 measures all dimensions with highest accuracy. The measurement process starts at the push of a button at the operator terminal or by scanning the freight-ID (if Module I - Ident is applied). Even during the 3D-Laser measurement also HD pictures of the freight object are taken for comprehensive consignment information. The complete freight measurement procedure only takes a few seconds and all detected freight information is forwarded to the warehouse management system (WMS). A further module for the generation of weight measurement data (Module W - Weight) can be added optionally.

The accurate and automatic 3D-Laser volume measurement combined with the freight weight generate reliable freight data and avoid wrong freight rating. Nowadays false data or faulty transcriptions of manually recorded freight data cause significant financial losses. By using our accurate and automatic measurement system LaseAFM-4 the consignor and carrier stay toghether as business partners without burdening their good relation through faulty freight data.

LaseHDM - Heavy-Plate Dimension Measurement

Contactless slab and heavy plate dimension 3D-measurement system: The system provided by LASE calculates the length, width, height, location as well as the edge dimension.

System features:

Short description

By using the measurement system LaseHDM - Heavy-Plate Dimension Measurement the slabs or heavy plates are placed automatically by crane onto the measuring table (measuring table length = 24m). After the deposition the measuring robot (on which four laser scanners out of the LASE 3000D-Series are installed) is moving over the objects (slabs or heavy plates).

The measurement data from the laser scanners are combined with the position data from an encoder (robots longitudinal position) in order that a 3D image of the objects on the measuring table can be generated.
Then the LASE measuring system calculates the length, width, height, the edges and location of the objects. These information can be used by the ultrasonic examination system to position and move the ultrasonic measuring head accurately over the object.

LaseBTC - Billet Thickness Casting machine

Billet thickness measurement for the continuous casting machine: The LASE measurement system is integrated in a water cooled frame.

Short description:
By using the measurement system LaseBTC - Billet Thickness Casting-machine the billets are directly driven through a measuring frame at the runout of the continuous caster plant. The integrated laser sensors are protected against overheating by a water cooling system. Furthermore the sensor heads are protected inside the mould chamber against deposits and pollutions by scavenging air .

LaseSPM - Slab Profile Measurement

Slab width and side profile measurement for hot and cold slabs: In this case triangulation-laser scanners by LASE are applied.

System features:

  • Calculation of max., min. and average width of the slabs

Short description:
The LaseSPM slab width and profile measurement system consists of two LASE 2000T triangulation-laser scanners which are mounted on both sides of the roll table.
The measurement system scales at the long edges of the slabs andy knowing the distance between both systems and the measured data, the slab width and the profile can be calculated. The evaluation takes place in a LASE Control Unit (LCU).
The slabs can also be driven through the measurement system diagonally because the software compensates oblique positions automatically. In addition, the shape (wedge shape and saber shape) of slabs can also be determined. Triangulation-laser scanners of the LASE 2000T-series are used here which also can measure hot slabs accurate to the millimetre.

LaseSDM - Slab Dimension Measurement

Length, width, thickness and shape - slabs can be measured in all of their dimensions: The solutions by LASE are configured modularly in order that measurements are according to customers' requests.

System features for LaseSDM - Slab Dimension Measurement:

The measuring frame (see picture above) consists of systems for width-, thickness- (two-lane) and length metering. The lasers for the width measurement are adjustable in their height and the lasers for thickness measurements are adjusatble in their width.

Short description:
The laser triangulation meters are built into a measuring frame which accommodates adjustments of the measuring devices for different slab widths and thicknesses. By means of the triangulation sensors the slab width and thickness is determined very exactly.
On two rollers in front of the measuring frame two incremental rotary encoders are mounted. The turns of the rolls are registered and with additional input of the laser meters, the length of the blocks is determined by both encoders.

For cooling purposes, the laser distance meters are implemented in air scavenged and water cooled housings. Fresh air is sucked in by a ventilator with an upstream filter (situated in the basement), transported and also divided over an air pipe to the measuring frame. The air is also conducted by separate lines to the laser housings. The scavenging air system serves to avoid dust deposits and the cooling plates are integrated in the housing for water cooling.

For these tasks the following types of triangulation meters are built into the measuring frame as follows:

  • Above the roller table: 2 sensors with a distance of 1150 mm
  • Underneath the roller table: 2 sensors with a distance of 700 mm
  • Sideways of the roller table: 1 sensor at each side (right and left) at a distance of 700 mm
  • Two incremental rotary encoders are adapted mechanically and mounted on two rolls

 

LASE 1000D Series

The sensors out of the LASE 1000D-Series measure with TOF technology (Time of flight technology) at distances of up to 1200m on reflectors and up to 155 m on natural surfaces.

The sensors transmit extremely short multiple light pulses, measure the running time of these pulses to the object and back and also computes the distance. The measuring data will be send serially over a RS 232/RS 422 interface as well as a programmable analog 4-20 mA output. Further two switching outputs are on board which can be configured in logic and band width. As a third interface PROFIBUS DP is also available.

The distance meters out of the LASE 1000D-Series are also equipped with a microprocessor control. Thus high accuracies can be gained as well as high-dynamic movements can be measured by a controllable averaging. Confirmed distances can be defined as threshold values which exceeding or falling below is monitored. By their very large measuring range the sensors can be used in many different industries and for a huge variety of tasks:

  • Measurement of dimensions, levels and positions of objects
